Description
The Gemmellaro Paleontological Museum, founded in 1860, houses one of Italy's most important paleontological collections. It boasts over 600,000 fossil specimens, mainly from Sicily, documenting the evolution of life on the island from the Paleozoic to the Quaternary. The most famous specimens include dwarf elephant fossils.
